The greatest deputy headmaster you could ever imagine. A disciplinarian, whose name instantly made an entire school stand upright....but who was always there for pupils and teachers alike, when times were tough. Perhaps most importantly, though, was the fact he gave up almost every single school holiday, for almost half a century, to take schoolchildren to places they would never normally go, see and do things they would never normally experience. All across Europe, even the USA; skiing, jumping into glacier lakes, glass blowing in Venice, or just simply camping in Wales. Mostly in a convoy of minibuses, tirelessly driven by him and whomever else he could corral from the rest of the schoolteachers. I’m not joking when I say he must have had an incredibly positive influence on thousands of lives...and I’m sure many tears have been shed, across the country and indeed the world. On a personal note - thank you. I’m certain it was your love of adventure, travel and the unknown which inspired me to do what I do today... and indeed live where I’ve lived. RIP Sir.
