Over 27 years – from our daughter starting at ‘Wales’ to my chatting with him at the 2019 Awards Evening – John was a person for whom my wife and I had nothing but respect. He was a great teacher and wonderful person – always caring greatly for pupils, for alumni and for the local community. He really was one of the few genuine ‘good guys’ in this world and he will be remembered with fondness by thousands. Martyn Benson
