I thought I’d share a memory of Mr Day, we’d managed to get to the final of the Rotherham cup the first in the schools history at that time (1982) against a team who’d thrashed every other on the way to the final and they basically would only have to turn up and the cup was theirs. We all know Mr Day was a great speaker and motivator but the team talk he gave us in the changing rooms would have had Winston Churchill nodding his head with approval, we were so pumped up we’d have run through a brick wall for him, needless to say we went on and won the match and became Rotherham champions, RIP Mr Day a true gentleman and Wales High school won’t quite be the same without you.
